Doctor Strange 2 Loses Director Scott Derrickson
Scott Derrickson, the director of 2016’s Doctor Strange, has announced that he will no longer be directing the planned 2021 follow-up, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. On Twitter, he said the reason for his change was “creative differences”, and that he will stay on as executive producer only.
With the sequel’s planned May 7, 2021 release just a year and a half away, there’s the question of whether Marvel will have to push back the film or not. However according to Variety, the studio plans to have a replacement in place before filming is set to start this May. That’s good news, since the five-year gap between the first and second Doctor Strange films as already on the long side by Marvel Studios standards. Let’s hope the new director can bring the same great mind-bending action the Doctor is known for.
